If you're only there for a short time, pick up one of the "1000 hours free with AOL" CDs in the supermarkets or electronics stores. Although make sure you leave yourself plenty of time to spend on the phone with AOL cancelling the subscription when you no longer need it!
Note that other ISPs provide these CDs as well, so hunt around for the best deal.0 -
Here are some ISP's that provide standard geographic number 56k access within the USA, with no subscription fee

http://www.nocharge.com
http://freedialup.org
These ISP's require no specialist software, and can be used with Windows, Linux, BeOS, Mac, or any other operating system. Some of these ISP's are also suitable for use in the UK with http://www.call1899.co.uk
There are many free ISP's that are ad-sponsored, such as Juno and NetZero. However, these ISP's require the use of proprietary software - so I wouldn't use them for the same reason that I wouldn't use AOL. You're unlikely to be able to use such ISP's with Linux, or operating systems other than Windows.
Sorry if none of the ISP's I've listed have Las Vegas access numbers - but I think it's a good idea to look for long-distance calling plans too. How long are you planning to stay in Las Vegas?

My son was there last week and managed to find it. Look for the Apple computer stores as they had free internet in LA & LV.0
