OP, what about catching a First 60 or 61 bus from Colnbrook to Wraysbury Station, and then a train direct to Vauxhall or Waterloo?

    Bus timetable.

    Train timetable.

Ah-ha, now this is interesting. No, honestly it is :D

It would seem that the 81 bus from Heathrow to Slough, which passes Colnbrook, is included in the travelcard scheme. That means that £47 a week would cover

    1) All tube and bus fares to and from work.

    2) Any other tube/DLR/bus journies the OP fancied making (perhaps making the most of London in his/her spare time)

    3) Unlimited bus travel into Slough also- for weekend shopping perhaps.

From a money saving POV, I reckon you'd struggle to beat that.

I hate to think how much that would cost at peak times though (assuming the job is 9-5 type hours)

£19 something a day - I do it about once a month. Not cheap, but then if I do the Waterloo line that's being discussed it's c£30 because I'd catch that a bit further out - I drive to Slough and park there.

Hmmm, I just looked this up (sorry, KeithP for not checking on this when posted) according to National Rail Enquiries its 42 mins to Vauxhall - and Wraysbury Station is barely half a mile from where I am being offered accomodation.

I think I can live with this. The reason I am keen on the accomodation in Colnbrook is that the landlord is offering me a 2 bed house for covering his mortgage. On a monthly basis this is just slightly more than what I would be paying for half decent houseshare in London. The landlord is not bothered if I choose to sublet - so I was thinking I could get someone to houseshare - pay me what the landlord wants and I could live on the cheap?

    Is this immoral??

Now let me get this straight.....

You want someone else to pay your full rent, while you pay nothing?

Yes, in my view that is immoral, and I regret taking the time to help you :(

Whoa there Comstock, lol --> I am just asking the question - I am not in that flat yet and my priority here is the job. I do value your opinion, I could just as well have gone ahead and done it without anyone being the wiser. I do feel uneasy about this - hence my request for advice.

The more I think of it the more it seems like a dirty underhanded trick - its not really my style and I am a little embarrassed.

Glad you are having second thoughts. Sorry to be harsh, but I stand by it.

I've spent a lot of my life in houseshares. It has to be equal shares, unless one room is significantly bigger than the other or something like that.

Hope you do the right thing-it's not always easy I know.....
