Great ideas - thanks folks. I have an offset account which at the moment has the best interest rate I can get since we're on a fixed rate mortgage at 5.75%! So I will shift all the annual and quarterly bill money into there - will build up a reserve and help reduce the mortgage term. Love the idea of also shifting amounts saved on till receipts Lemon Tree - will try that too if I can still keep to my groceries budget doing it!0

Woo LemonTree, that's a superb idea. By my calculations, I've already saved £4.59 this month already!
Soon have the freezer saved up for!

i figured that normally i would have spent that money anyway so i'm not really out of pocket. I certainly didn't think that it would get so high so quickly though and i've not even really noticed it.0

Quick update - not been the cheapest day as had to pay buildings and contents insurance for the year. Plan is to try to squeeze it out of this month's money then put money aside for next year monthly. But have also had quarterly telephone and TV licence so might not manage it!
Got a cheque for refund of car tax today - car packed up two months ago so had to get another - has taken them this long to refund! But at least it is here now.
Carrying on with daily checks on bank account - all as expected thankfully. Quiet weekend planned - except for friend's party on Saturday - so thinking I will do some more sorting and try to get a few cupboards cleared out. Am sure there must be ebayable stuff left in some of them!0
