Thinking if switching to E-on for the £70 as my £100 was paid from SP at end of June so may aswell/
Which tariff have people switched to with E-on to avoid being locked in/charges etc? Thanks0 -

Watch out for Eon's sneaky exit fee by another name - they grant no discounts on the final bill, i.e. when you switch away from them. I'm sure there's a way to get them back for this but I'm not clever enough to think of one. BLF?Call me Carmine....

Hi gemmalouanna
The only product currently available on our website with a cancellation fee is the Energy discount (version 4) tariff.
All the other tariffs on the website have no cancellation fees but discount is not given on final bills following a change of supplier.
Hope this helps.

Which is actually the worst kind of cancellation fee in that it has no expiry date plus there's no 'set' amount - no matter how long you are with Eon you will always be penalised financially for having the temerity to leave for pastures new. Yes?Call me Carmine....

Thanks for the replies - probably being really stupid but can you explain what you mean by this before I decide if I am switching to them. Thanks0 -

Yes, of course. Eon's policy is not to grant any discount on your final bill. This means if/when you switch away from them at any stage in the future your final bill will have absolutely no discount on it. If you look at their tariffs the discount on them can be sizeable (and these sizeable discounts are included in the figure you see on the switching sites). Leave during the Winter months in particular and the lack of discount on the final bill they send you could be very sizeable indeed. In effect it's an exit fee (where the supplier charges you a SET amount if you leave them within a certain time frame). Unlike 'proper' exit fees this one has no time limit placed on it, nor is it a set amount - you leave in say 5 years and you still get 'done'.
Like npower's annual discount paid 12 months in arrears, it's yet another example of sneaky confusion market and any regulator with the interests of the public at heart would have outlawed both these practices. HTH.Call me Carmine....

Thanks 1carminestocky I think I understand what you mean - glad you brought this to my attention before I weigh up whether to switch again.0

You're very welcome. To be fair, the thread starter should have made this very important T&C entirely clear IMO. Certainly for people who will be joining the happy band of Serial Switchers for Cashback (TM)
it's very important to know this as it negates a lot of the gains. I'm surprised he's 'missed' this as he's normally so razor sharp when it comes to other company's T&Cs, lol.
PS In my (Yorkshire) region Eon's latest online tariff sports a 13.8% discount. If you switch away as soon as you get the £70 paid there is every chance that your one and only quarterly bill from Eon will have no discount deducted. It's something that definitely needs highlighting (especially by someone as experienced in these matters as Quentin!).Call me Carmine....

I'm in Yorkshire, I was thinking of doing exactly this - switching as soon as the Cashback comes through.
Assuming it takes a month for the £70 to be paid, then another month to change supplier, surely the 13.8% discount you don't get after those two months won't amount to more than £70...? Especially in September/October when gas usage won't be that high.0
