Into this section I enterered the details of my only other credit card which was issued by them. How is it NOW my fault that their system did not pick this up?
And how do you find out something if you don't know you are supposed to? Sure, in the eyes of the law ignorance may not be an excuse. But again if the online form did not register this how was I supposed to know? I paid my monthly dues each month on both cards on time and in good faith. They were therefore making twice the money from me.
Thank you for your input and for taking the time to reply to my post.
To cifpower many thanks for your response. I will 'suck it up.' And as all knowledge is useful, I will not make the same 'mistake' again.
It's your fault as you knew you already had a Card with them, so therefore, common sense should tell you that you don't apply for the same card again. If they are daft enough to send you the card out, then they are also at fault, but I cannot see how this would happen, simply because if you look for example at Capital One, their application states, if you are an existing Capital One Card Holder, DO NOT re-apply!! So in summary, your either having a giraffe, or better still, you have put details on the application form that differ from the last application, which is why they did not pick it up, count yourself lucky you don't have a CIFAS warning against you, moral: DON'T APPLY FOR THE SAME PRODUCT TWICE!!!!0 -

I think you need to read some of the posts above my dear.
It has already been clearly established that all your points (as were arons initially) are bordering on the ridiculous.
So i'll repeat - the OP did nothing wrong!0 -

DON'T PATRONIZE ME!!!
You cannot apply for the same account TWICE!!!
I suggest you read some Credit Card TERMS and CONDITIONS and it clearly states, if you have already got a card with us DO NOT RE APPLY!
It tells me that you would be the type that would have for example a Capital One Card, and then apply for the same card again, I think the only application you should be making is for logic and sense.0 -

Better check ur facts mate. you are quoting "Capital One". quite a few providers allow you to have multiple cards with their branding!!. most providers who issue VISA & Mastercard will allow you to have one card under each. e.g lloyds tsb, MBNA to name a few.
infact providers who have American express will allow 3!! again i will quote lloyds tsb.
FYI ...from the lloyds tsb website...
********************************************
The Lloyds TSB Airmiles Duo Credit Card account comes with two cards, an Airmiles Duo American Express® Card and an Airmiles Duo MasterCard.
********************************************
So please check ur facts first. I would expect even capital one would allow two cards as they do give mastercard and visa as seperate products!!. WIll check with them and post it here!:beer::beer:0 -

Why, when you come out with rubbish? Hard not to really.....gazelle8760 wrote: »You cannot apply for the same account TWICE!!!
Think you'll find you can, several banks allow this as we already told you earlier in thread!gazelle8760 wrote: »I suggest you read some Credit Card TERMS and CONDITIONS and it clearly states, if you have already got a card with us DO NOT RE APPLY!
I needn't read terms, anyway you are aware (I assume) that all terms will differ and are specific to each lender? Not like they are blanket terms - they are specific!
Ermmm, where does it say don't apply twice? I am reading my terms and cannot see that quote anywhere - ahh, I know why - all my cards mean you can have multiple accounts, DOH! How could I forget!!!gazelle8760 wrote: »It tells me that you would be the type that would have for example a Capital One Card, and then apply for the same card again, I think the only application you should be making is for logic and sense.
Eh? What planet are you on..... How can you make such a judgement and declare what card they would have? You're truly bonkers!
Lesson here is don't listen to people who have no clue!2010 - year of the troll

I'm not going to say much more about gazelle8760 as I originally stated that the two cards were not the same. They WERE however from the same lender. But this isn't the same at all. Thank you nonetheless for taking the time to post here.
Huge thanks to never-in-doubt, great advice (I freely admit to looking up some of your other posts, concise, insightful and honest) and very grateful for it too.
I'm just wondering now if a visit to the CAB would be a good idea as I don't wish to persue something I'm not legally entitled to. I was hoping there would some legal brain on here who could tell me if I am entitled to argue this point with Vanquis.
Wouldn't the world be a bit dull without money, in all it's ways shapes and forms, to keep us going?0 -

IMHO I would not even bother. Legally i would think there is no grounds at all. They are entitled to close any card they choose and raise interest rates as they wish. Infact they do not even have to transfer the limit which in your case they did.:beer::beer:0 -

Ahh just realised, so you mean you've applied for one of the Otto Group cards issued by Vanquis? for example Freemans card?
To be honest, if I were you just close both accounts and go elsewhere - It does say, to be fair, that you can only have one account with vanquis.... see quote here:
http://www.freemanscreditcard.com/applynow/home/Home.aspx
To make a credit card application you must be over 18, a UK resident, not already hold a credit card issued by Vanquis Bank and have a landline telephone number. We recommend you have your salary, banking and employment address details to hand to avoid any delays in applying.2010 - year of the troll

I had 2 Capital One cards, they offered the second one to me themselves.
Perhaps they need to read their own T&C's too :rotfl:Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
