    I've been Money Tipped!
I opened last night as well over the phone, very quick to do. Have asked for the first payment to be taken Friday so I can also switch the s/o to the 1st of the month,

I've just been in to the branch to fill the form in.

They can't be officially opened until Monday (though it doesn't say that on the website), so the initial payment can't be till 1 Jun, followed by the first SO on 1 Jul.

Opened mine in the branch today and could make a payment there and then.
Decided against this, due to cash flow, and set up a s/o starting this Friday (showing on internet banking immediately), which will then be changed to 1st of the month.

Yes, I began having doubts about this 1 Jun date as soon as I posted, when I recalled that it was not a new account, just a change of interest rate from 26 May. I shall be back in the branch tomorrow to sort it out.

I opened mine to-day over the phone. I was told the first payment had to be via SO, which can go out to-morrow at the earliest. After that you are free to change the SO date.

If you want to set up the account via the phone, to-day would appear to be the last possible date to get the account funded in May.

By the way, I phoned the freephone number for current account opening, (0800) 015 4000, and was put through to savings.

I opened mine yesterday by phone. I was surprised at the number of questioned asked. Compared to when I opened a second current account by a single click online this seemed to go on forever - nationality details, employment details, OK to do credit search. The account didn't appear in my list of online servicable accounts until mid-morning today so was starting to get worried it wouldn't get open in time to do the SO date switch. The funding standard order was also created against my current account, initially set for the 1st of each month. The system accepted my change of payment date to the 29th May. I'll logon tomorrow to make sure this has gone through and amend back to the 1st.

I've just opened one over the phone using your number (note time of post). But they wouldn't do a standing order for Friday (24 hours needed - so presumably one had to ask for this during banking hours to fall within that) So I just opted for Monday (1st June) instead and that will do almost as well....

(Yes, they do try to 'sell' you a bit during the call but it's worth the slight delay involved)

Can I still open this tomorrow if I go in to a branch cash in hand?
