    Hiya

Don't go mad handing over lots of coupons! I'm banned because I used money off coupons.

Each store has discretion as to what they do and don't accept so you've been warned!

    Hi igloo,
Thanks, I have read your original thread and felt completely shocked at the way you were treated. Hope you have recovered a bit now, but it must make you scared even to hand over a coupon for an item you've actually bought!

It took hours to read that thread and even though it was riveting I must have scan-read the end...

I'm not sure now if you can still shop at any Tesco (are you banned from just one store?). Did you get your Clubcard back? Where do you shop now and do you use coupons at all?

Wishing you well after what happened to you....there but for the grace of God go lots of your fellow MSE forum contributors.

I echo Welsh Dragon's thread - getting coupons taken off is still a bit or miss at my store. I've even had SA who have changed the policy by the next time I go in!!

If you ask the Customer services what the store policy is on coupons before you shop, this has been know to solve problems later on.

Stick to one coupon of each type, be pleasant to the Checkout assistant who's probably been abused by hundreds of other customer in the same day and don't go mad. You read these posts of people trying to get 80% of their shop off with coupons and that's great for now, but if and when they change store policy because of your actions - don't complain.

    ....QUOTE]

I'm banned from one store. I go to others with no problems at all. I do still shop at Tesco because of the points...the deals are worth too much to shop elsewhere!
I also shop at Tesco.com when the goods points offers come out... like 1000 points when you spend £50... that type of thing. The ironic thing is that when i shop at Tesco.com, the store that delivers the groceries is the one I'm banned from! That makes me feel a bit better when I'm paying £3.99 for delivery but getting a 1000 points thrown in! They will come to me but I can't go to them!

I never got my clubcard back but I use the keyfob when I shop.

I do still use coupons but I am not much more sensible about it! I know what they are capable of so I do not want the same to happen to me again. I always buy at least a few items that I've got coupons for and then throw in a few that I haven't bought. The way I look at it is that whatever they accept is a bonus!
When I think about it, if everyone handed over tons of coupons every time they shop then it would only be a matter of time before Tesco put a stop to it nationally, not just local discretion as it is now.

With Tesco's policy, provided the SAs stick to the rules there wouldn't be any reason for them to change it... Although you may think Tesco are loosing money when giving you 50p of apples when you are buying bananas... There will be hundreds of people buying apples who don't have coupons, they just say one of these people used the coupon. The only problem I guess is if coupons > products coupons is for are sold, doubt that happens though.

On another note a man came into where I work today and purchased a mobile phone, he handed me a great big pile of cutout vouchers and book vouchers. I simply said I would only put one of each through so he only got 5 quid off... His wife on the other hand managed to goto a new cashier and buy another phone with quite a significant discount.. Only found out when I went to get the phone for his wife and looked at the receipt. What was anoying is that 5 minutes later man and wife walk in together and begin their main shopping still with many coupons left.... Manager got wind of it and watched them or told them to leave the store since I didn't see them again.

Aaron, I agree it's a bit cheeky but I can see where this couple are coming from! Why don't Tesco have a fixed percentage that they will accept towards your shopping?

It's silly at some stores to be told '3 vouchers per transaction' whether you're spending £7 or £70. It just makes me buy a small basketful each day at that store, using the max no. of coupons each time. If I want to do a bigger shop I go to a different store where I know some of the lads on the tills will probably scan a larger wedge of vouchers for me.

By the way, I'm always polite and don't argue, I do see it as a bonus when coupons are taken and that is why I never go to Sainsbury's any more. So Tesco have gained me as a regular customer (I have a young family and also do my Mum's shopping there, so I think Tesco does OK from my custom!).:o

Please can you help me out .

I am new to the site and am finding it very useful. However!!

Where do you all get these money off vouchers that you are all using at Tesco?

I only seem to get the odd ones from tesco and sainsbury, but they don't really add up to much.

Best advice is to read this site regulary - there are always coupons popping up. The back pages of this column are a mine of information - so spend an hour or two reading past posts. Also read the Newspaper coupons summary daily (shameless plug).

You can write to companies who's products you buy / don't buy and ask them for coupons / a sample - just be polite.

Good luck and welcome to the site - I hope you save as much as many of us have.

I was told by our local Tesco checkout manager that the policy there is 3 different coupons max for items that you haven't purchased, and any number if you have actually bought the corresponding items. Though I suspect that if you took your final total down really low that it might be queried!

My local now has a policy of one per transaction up to a total of £2. Means lots of small shopping trips!
