Anyone got a Nokia phone with GPS?
I am considering the 6210 Navigator with Vodafone, but could anyone tell me if using the GPS/SatNav feature costs anything? The guy at Vodafone said that you can use the maps (Nokia Maps) and use it to help you navigate a route from A to B, you only need to pay for the bit that gives you voice instructions.
Is this correct? I am interested in your thoughts and opinions.
Thanks

I would like to be able to use the GPS for free. I want to be sure that using the mapping is free as well, ie the mapping is stored on the phone's memory and not downloaded (and therefore charged for for internet downloads). Thanks.....0

ok have I have the N95 with inbuilt GPS and nokia maps
The GPS is OK but loses sync with the sats quite often unless you use AGPS assisted GPS which uses your data network to lock your area and then the GPS will pin point your location,
make sure you go to Nokia Maps to download the maps onto your mem card otherwise again your data network will be used for this,
it's ok it you have unlimited data, otherewise can be quite expensive,
True you have to pay for the voice activation, but otherwise it's free,
If you need it for a car, I would say a dedicated in GPS system is better0 -

Thanks I have a Sat Nav in the car.
So once the maps are on the phone (can I do this on PC at home then trasfer them) I can use the GPS for free? I won't be having unlimited data downloads......0 -
You will be able to use it, just make sure in the settings of nokia maps,
There is network usage, make sure its off0 -
I have a N95.The built in Nokia sat nav is OK,but no voice guidance unless you pay.I put Garmin on which works great & with voice guidance.(£6 off ebay)0

I use TomTom on an N82 using the built in GPS.
Switch off AGPS and from then on, no charges whatever (unless you subscribe to traffic info etc)
Initial lock can take an AGE though (up to 5 mins) but once it is on, I haven't had any issues with losing a sat lock.0 -
Hi OP,
Just to let you know, I now have the Nokia 6210navigator.
I have put Garmin Sat Nav on mine and it works fine with voice directions and no data charges.0 -
Let me put it in other words for you.
There is two ways of doing it:
1) Pay for it
2) or get a pirate copy
The choice is yours0
