Worth planning for when entering a recession.
As payday said, best of all to be mortgage free.
Getting the most out of welfare is a situation I would prefer not to be in so it's not something I'm going to plan towards now. I prefer to have savings and have the option of what I do should I join the dole queue.--
Every pound less borrowed (to buy a house) is more than two pounds less to repay and more than three pounds less to earn, over the course of a typical mortgage.0 -
Chucky was on the mortgages board having a moan about you, neverdespairgirl and carolt not so long ago, and you three weren't even postng on the thread:D

hahaha - do you mean that they went out of their way to moan about me on another board??
surely not - they must have lots and lots of better things to do with their eventful lives
Pay Day you really must provide me with a link - neverdespairgirl and CarolT seem to have so much integrity on here0 -
I guess so. Better still to have paid your mortgage off.
April 2009
Help with mortgage costs – due to housing market problems
There will be a temporary:- Cut in waiting time from 39 to 13 weeks, and
- Increased in the loan limit from £100,000 to £175,000
So if you've got through the 39week barrier and you're sitting on the dole with an IO mortgage you are set.
A bit of a pain when the time comes to pay off the capital debt though.--

That is pretty sad, alright. Obviously we have made a big mpact on his life. I hope he doesn't neglect his extensive property portfolio in favour of talking about us all over MSE though, you need to keep a careful eye on things like that in the current market or they can run away from you.--
