Should She Wait To Buy Her Dream Home??????????

A relative of mine has fallen in love with a property near me, but it's under offer. She is thinking of putting in a higher bid, but I suggested she waits and sees if the offer falls through, and then, according to many of you on here she'll be able to purchase it for about £3k.

Should she gazump or hold her horses?:j

    Pickledp darling,
Those 7 bed places are 2 a penny nowadays. I'd tell her to wait till after Xmas and maybe 10K might be nearer the mark.

I just put in an offer of £235,000 on my dream home.

My strategy is to bargain up to the £250k mark for the stamp duty... Do you think they'll take £250k for it....

It's charming in its way, but less than an acre means relatively close neighbours, while the aerial photo shows that it is actually on an estate! For 2.6m I would want at least 20 acres. There's scarcely room for a few goats and a large veggie patch, let alone a couple of polytunnels.

I don't see much point in giving advice to somebody with £2.6 million to spend. If they have that sort of money, they may as well spend it and enjoy what it brings rather than sitting in a cold a drafty bedsit counting it. If it's what your friend wants, I would definitely not get in the way of her buying it.

When I clicked on the link, I was fully expecting to see some unremarkable house and I was going to say "Oh, for goodness sakes! She'll find something else she'll like just as well." But... then I saw the house, and the price, and I guess she should go for it. If she has that sort of money, she can do as she likes. And, I guess houses like that aren't that common... particularly if she wants to be in that specific area.

She should honestly assess how much she is willing to pay and then make an offer. If she doesn't get it, she'll be no worse off for having tried.

Pickled knows this is the type of house that will probably not be losing value in the current crash, hence the second part of her question. I wouldn't be so unkind as to suggest that she has made the whole thing up, for on the 'net, anything is possible.

However, even with a price tag of £2.6m, a house may not be capable of delivering what you desire, hence my post.

Having read the history of that house I'm tempted to go for a viewing. My in-laws are coming for the weekend in a fortnight and a tour of that house will be cheaper than a trip to Hampton Court Palace.

I hope you don't mind me using your future gaff as a cheap tourist destination Bf.:D
