Swinton Car Insurance - CON PEOPLE!!!! ADVICE!!!

  • Its probably no help to the OP, but good lesson here for many younger drivers.

Use a search facility by all means, but don't pay some middle man like this company. They are only there to make money, do your own homework and then go straight to the company who looks to have the best deal.

I should imagine us more mature (well in years anyway) drivers have all been turned over by one or other insurance shark at some time or another.
Good example here of why to avoid em.

Thanks to everyone for there advice and their own dealings with SDwinton.
I am ringing them today to request a FULL refund of the policy remaining.
If they fail to give it to me then have spoke to FOA and they have said they will carry out an investigation.
Will update you later to let you know how it went

£45 is alot of money, when my policy is £150 for fully comp, well now £102 a year with my new car and insurance compny.
I still disagree and no way am I paying the fee

In another thread you're whinging at someone who doesn't want to pay a parking fine - why is it unacceptable for that person not to pay a fine, but acceptable for you to ignore contract terms which you signed up to?

I did have another car iinsured with them a while ago which I cancelled due to there crap service

Yet you went back to them again?

If the charge was in the T&C's you signed up to I don't rate your chances, but if you're persistent enough they may write off the £45 to avoid the hassle.

No, I was with them already, I had 3 cars insured with them, one policy ran out, canclled the other and now this one.
In T&C it doesnt state about the fe, just says they can charge a cancellation fee, however it states £25 not £45, but would appear it went up:confused:

I used to work for them a good number of years ago and fees were always a big money spinner for them.

They get a commission from the insurer, but also used to charge a new policy fee and renewal fee on top. As you say, they also charge extra on cancellation and for any mid term adjustments made.

It's gready. One thing they didn't like were official complaints, but it will depend on the set up of the branch as to how likely you are to get anywhere as many are Franchises and their head office have little say in such discretionary decisions.
