I've heard so many negative things from hairdressers about Pantene - something about it creating a synthetic coating on the hair and damaging it, I think... perhaps somebody who knows what I'm talking about can tell me what the problem is

The little pots of Vaseline are a brilliant lip balm I second the vote for them, and Collection 2000 do a really good kohl eyeliner that's about £1.99. If you use face powder I also can't recommend Corn Silk highly enough, I've been using it for years it's brilliant.
My latest discovery is a concealer my friend introduced me to. It's a Virgin cosmetics one called correct & perfect. I think it's quite new. It's £10 for a little pot but you only need the tiniest bit. It's got a lilac shade to put on dark circles and a green shade to cover blemishes then two skin coloured concealers to pat one the top. It's fantastic! I've tried loads in the past as I have awful skin and this is by far the best I've tried.
I like palmers body lotion, mainy cos it smells like chocolate. But find it quite thick very diff to get the stuff outta the bottle cos its tat thick. I have to leave the bottle upside down to get the other half. So like u i use Boots but the coca oil and almond body lotion(£1.99) has the same effects and in a easy pump action dispenser, and smell quite nice too. Nice and soft skin.
I use rescue oil at night for my face and its a bargain at £1.49 as a little goes a long way.
i think it has even out the diff tones in my face.A smile and manners doesnt cost any thing0 -

Yeah, I heard that too... but I read this the other day:

You can get Palmers in a pump bottle it's a bit more expensive, but I think it contains more product than the normal bottles.... I struggle with the normal bottles too... dunno why packaging always has to be so daftdon't blow out other people's candles to make your own burn brighter...0 -
Now I just need to find somthing to tame my frizz prone coloured hair. I seem to have tried everything and it is being very badly behaved at the moment...any tips?
Coconut oil is brilliant for taming the frizz.... needs to unrefined coconut oil, I bought mine off eBay - but I'm gonna search holland & barratts for some if it's not too expensive
Stick the jar in the basin with some hot water in (it's solid at room temp) - when it starts to melt put a little bit in the palm of your hands - just a little otherwise it just makes your hair greasy. Massage it from root to end and you can either wait 20 mins and wash out (you won't need conditioner) or I like to sleep with it in my hair and wash out in the morning.
Takes a little practice to get the right amount for your hair, but once you do it's worth it. I swear my hair is also breaking less since I've been using it. :jdon't blow out other people's candles to make your own burn brighter...0 -
Also, forgot to mention before, i'm looking for something effective and affordable to make the dark circles under my eyes go away....no amount of sleep seems to have any effect!
You could try using some of the products mentioned under 'concealers' in the list in the first post, which other people have recommended. Let us know how you get on with them!0 -
Great thread!
Another vote for Palmers - pump bottle variety. Think it's cheaper in Wilkinsons or Savers.
A vote for Simple Skin Care wipes - this appeared in 21st century beauty bible too I think. They are cheap (often on offer) and very effective. Plus they don't sting. I was very reluctant having tried other brands but they are now a regular purchase.
A vote for Clean & Clear cleanser - it's strong but if you have oily or stubborn spots it's a deep clean. It comes in bright orange and blue colours with different strengths I think. Similar in its strength to Clinique's toner (which I've used and admit to still liking but C&C is a good substitute).
A vote for Pit Rok deodorant spray - can be found in larger Superdrugs. Anti-perspirants can be too strong (as in they affect the skin) but find this deordant is better. I don't like the crystal stick variety.
A vote for Mudd Mask - an old classic but still great.
Hope these have been helpful.

I think you mean muslin cloths??! (sorry but it made me laugh!)
Yes, they're £4.99 for a pack of 2 in Tescos, but at the moment anything in the Bnatural range is 3 for 2.0 -
Hi all - muslin cloths are cheap as anything on ebay - just buy the large sheets (used for babies) and cut them into 4 - I got a pack of 12 sheets a year ago for around £4 and have only used 3 sheets out of the 48 I made! Then you can give them to friends, throw them away or whatever you want and they're excellent xMFW #185
