Thank you very much for your helpful advice Angel81. I'm really glad that you're subscribed to the thread- as I suspect we'll be needing to pick your brain again many times in the future!!

Yes, many thanks from me too Angel81, that's really helpful. It's not really oily skin that's the problem - I'm either just verging on the menopause or it's due to pain medication, I suddenly find that my hair is dripping and the make-up is slipping - not a pretty sight :o .

You should be on commission from the sites you mentioned, I for one have already ordered one of the dermacolour palettes and a cake eyeliner. I've also nominated your really informative post on brushes etc. for the post of the month:T:T :T :T :T :T it's the best thing I've come across in years!

Don't forget to come back and let us know how you get on with the concealer and eyeliner!

Thank you so much Unity, that's really kind of you! :o

I was actually quite wary about posting my recommendations here as I'd hate for anyone to buy something on my say so and it not work for them, especially as they can't just go to the make up counter and try a tester with some of them. We've all got such different skin and different expectations from a product so it's a very real risk! We're all here though making recommendations and sharing our own experiences and knowledge and harryharp is doing a great job of updating the first post so we can all see just how many recommendations each product has received. It's then down to us as individuals to decide if we want to try them. But I guess that's what this thread (and this site!) is all about, if someone tries one of my recommended products and doesn't like it (lets face it, we're all constantly trying new products to find one that works for us) at least they've only spent a few quid on a "cheap" item and not a fortune on the latest miracle luxury brand!

Once you've received the camouflage make up and eyeliner if you encounter any problems do let me know and I'll do my best to help. But by using the mini palette as an artist would, mixing colours until you get something that is the same colour as your skin (I mix just enough colour on the inside of the lid and wipe any remains off with a baby wipe once I'm done), thinning it down with liquid foundation if needed, and powdering over it to set you shouldn't have too much trouble. It can take a bit of practice though!

Also my apologies regarding the foundation recommendation. You mentioned oil free and I jumped to conclusions! Unfortunately foundation going shiny and sliding off with heat is one of those facts of life. If it's any consolation it even happens to the most beautiful models and actresses with the most perfect skin when they're under the hot lights. That's why us make up artists get paid to stand around on set all day ready to pounce with a powder puff!

For a real world solution I'd suggest making sure you set liquid foundation with a bit of translucent powder in the morning and then carry around some blotting tissues for an emergency touch up. Try not to keep on adding powder throughout the day as you just end up with a horrible, cakey mess!

You get a free 17 eyeshadow compact when you spend just £5 on Boots 17 products at the mo. So you'd get one if you bought one of those foundations recommended by Angel81uk- as they're only £5.49!

But don't forget you'll probably need more than one colour and mix them together. So put them through the till as separate transactions and grab yourself two compacts!

Now I just need to find somthing to tame my frizz prone coloured hair. I seem to have tried everything and it is being very badly behaved at the moment...any tips?

Have you tried vitapointe? A favourite with grannies across the county it's a leave in conditioner but I use it as a finishing serum on real hair wigs all the time. It's in a white and pink box and can be found in boots, wilkinsons etc usually for less than £2 for 30ml. Especially great for coloured hair as it conditions as well as taming frizz and glossing but apply sparingly or you end up with greasy looking hair.

Madhuri- I don't think soured cream actually smells of anything much- it's just the name that's a bit off-putting. If you don't like the idea, another poster has suggested using aspirin in an ordinary cleansing cream instead:

Hi, yes its the stuff you buy in supermarkets. It doesnt smell strong, but if you want a nice smell, u can probably add some essential oils to the mix.
I keep the mask on for around 10mins, and do it once a week at most, but you can do this probably a couple of times a week (my sister uses aspirin quite regularly).

Sour cream has lactic acid in it which is good for exfoliation and softening, so adds to the clarifying effect of aspirin. Good luck with it!
