Short term home for substantial inheritance

I've recently inherited a six figure sum which I want to invest in the Buy to Let market over the next six months or so. Meanwhile, what should I do with it? I'll need easy access to it when the time comes. As it's a short term investment prior to the BTL, I want to avoid the stock market for the obvious reason that the investment won't have time to recover if the market dips.

NS&I would fit the bill. any pareticulated reason you want to sink your windfall into BTL?

ulster bank for £85K (unless you also have money with RBS/Natwest) pays 1.25% instant access.

Otherwise NS&I (any amount) paying 0.75%

Or farm it out in dribs and drabs to get higher rates instant access.

What attracts you to BTL? In my experience it's a pain in the bum already and there'll be even more regulation post Grenfell. If that weren't enough the returns are poor nowadays, the easy money's already been made

My reason for favouring BTL is mainly diversification. My SIPP is in the markets and I've already got a six figure sum in a S&S ISA, so I need to be in something else with the inheritance. I've not done a BTL before so am a bit nervous I admit. Anything else I should be looking at?

P2P lending is an asset class that could be considered.

Maybe look at commercial property either directly held or through funds.

How old are you? You could spend the money on training for a different career. Medicine? Flying? Law?
Free the dunston one next time too.
