Online conveyancing? Too good to be true?

Hi all, as a FTB who's just agreed an offer on a property, I need to 'instruct a solicitor'.... I've stumbled across a site called 'evolved conveyancing.co.uk' which seems to offer the ideal solution? If it is possible to get all this stuff done via email/phone/web that would be ideal!
Has anybody heard of, or used this company? Should I be wary? What are the potential pitfalls?
(It is a service provided by a company called 'abt law' in Manchester, apparently....?)

As usual with these online conveyancers you need to read ALL the small print - did you notice the extra charge for dealing with the mortgage?RICHARD WEBSTER
As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.0 -
Last two properties I bought, I used an office-based solicitor but 99.9% of the process was done by email anyway.
If that's your main objective, then shop around and ask each solicitor the extent to which they would use email for the process.
I would be uncomfortable using a site I'd "stumbled on", but perhaps I'm over-cautious. That said, there's quite a bit at stake, so a healthy degree of caution is not such a bad thing.Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0 -
Hello, I used http://www.conveyancing-cms.co.uk/ and they were great. They get 3 quotes and you choose the best one. We ended up with a solicitor in Newcastle (we live in London) and it was no hassle at all. Everything done by post and email. Also, with that site if the sale doesn't go through for any reason then you don't have to pay, and your deposit is just transferred to the next property.
The site was recommended to me by someone else who used them who just happens to be a solicitor as well.0 -

Oh and I've just noticed on their site that I can get £20 if I refer you so if you want me to, send me a pm with your email!0 -
I've used online conveyancing several times and been extremely happy with them. The fees were very competitive and they did everything on time and by the book. I could track all the conveyancing every step of the way online, so no phone calls needed to check on progress.
They were very efficient, more than I thought they would be to be honest.
On one property I was in the process of buying they managed to dig out a very obscure 20 year old boundary dispute with a neighbouring property and actually advised me to pull out, which I did. I am so glad I did because the person who did buy the property really got stung apparently.
The firm I used was http://www.onlineconveyancing.co.uk/
I can thoroughly recommend.0 -
Thanks everyone for your help...... Decided in the end to keep the grumpy git (OH) next to me happy, and sorted with the local bloke now.....0
