Post Office Credit Card and Payment Protection

I've never taken payment protection when I sign up for credit cards as I don't believe they are worth the money.

I had my first bill for my Post Office credit card and it had my balance transfer on it BUT it also had a charge for payment protection. Now I am 99% sure I never signed up for it so I called their customer service centre and they were adamant that I signed up for it, someone even managed to get my application form to confirm I signed for it. I can't dispute it as I didn't take photo copies of my application but I am very suspicious that they aren't telling the truth.

I have written a letter to a PO Box at the Mount Pleasant sorting office in East London asking for this worthless protection to be cancelled immediately as the service centre would not give cancel it over the phone.

I have some serious doubts about taking out this card from the Bank Of Ireland now.

A mistake has been made, possibly by them, possibly by you. If you dispute it was you simply ask them to verify the proof by sending you a copy of your application. I can see no reason why they would refuse a reasonable request.

Don't cancel the card as you'll be hurting yourself more than them if you like to use your card abroad.

I didn't think about asking them to send me a copy of my application form, I'll get on to that in the morning thanks.

What worries me is that they told me to write to a PO Box in East London to get the Payment Protection cancelled which I find very dubious. Not very professional.
