credit score

I am going to finally begin stoozing after reading all of the wonderful advice on here. I have just checked my experian credit report and it gives me a score of 960. It states that this is good as apposed to excellent. My question is why is it not excellent as I have never had a late payment or default. The reason I am asking is because I want to apply for a couple of 0% credit cards shortly. Thanks in advance for your replies

Don't think you'll get a definite answer to this one. But for what it's worth, the general consensus is that the Experian Credit Score may be an indicator but at the end of the day, each credit card company has it's own scoring system.

Answer to your question could even be that you don't have enough credit! Don't let it put you off applying for cards, if you've had no searches on your credit file for some time and otherwise good credit history then no reason for you to be refused.

My top two picks are the HSBC card for 0% purchases for 12 months and the Virgin Money 0% for 15 months (2.98% fee).

  • Thanks for your reply. Have just checked through my report again and they are for the usual things, remortgage etc. I only have one credit card at the minute so that could be why.

Moochy - I have just done mine and my score of 971 gets a rating of EXCELLENT. So I would say you are almost there. It may be that I have a slightly longer history of good credit compared to yours or have a bigger line of credit available to me.
