Can someone recommend a good business laptop for £650 tops ...

I am looking for a seriously good laptop on a budget of £650 absolute max (cheaper would be better of course!!) with the following features:

Fast processor which is good at conserving battery life
17" screen (forwatching DVDs when I am away from home)
High capacity battery
OS - not sure / should I go for Vista or tried and trusted XP?
min 3Gb RAM
min 250Gb HDD
Integrated wireless, bluetooth and webcam

Any recommendations?

Read the reviews in the PC mags.
  • I wouldn't recommend going for a "cheap" laptop.

Dell do do some half decent laptops; but for ruggedness, I'd recommend Toshiba's.

However, for that price - with the specs you're after I think you'll be hard pushed to find a decent laptop.

Have a look at the Acers and Dells as I believe they may just about fall into your range.

Win XP Pro will handle upto 4GB of RAM.

I heard that Vista is really memory hungry so thought it would be a smart move to get plenty of memory now as I know I will not be bothered doing upgrades and all that once I start using the laptop. Would you recommend I go for XP or Vista?
