Nissan service cost

My local Nissan dealer is quoting £259 for a major service (35000 miles).
It's for an NV200 van which has a 5 year warranty and there is some warranty work needed too so it's convenient to have it done at the same time.

It's a long time since using a main dealer for a service - is that price realistic?

  • For a service no more than £150.

yes it is realistic but remember to add 20% Vat or check if included.

Remember you can haggle on price.
Despite what anyone tells you if it still has a warranty use the main dealer.

Mileage is often what counts, not just time.

What's included in that "major" service?
How much is parts, how much is labour, what's the hourly labour cost?

The word "Service" can mean anything and I never just book a car in for one without knowing fully what is required (by age and mileage) and what they will actually do for the price.

Some services are just checks, others require oil, filters and plugs, others require new brake fluid, aux and/or cam belt change, valve clearance checks and so on along with the aforementioned checks.

With the owners hand book you should be able to work out what sort of service your vehicle actually needs, then phone the dealers and ask for a price based on that.

I don't know if this is comparable but my MX5 with 47K on the clock cost me £240 for a service at a main dealer.
