Seen this advertised locally, looks really clean on the photos, 151k, £1200 , are these vehicles reliable?

90's Merc is probably full of rust by now.0

Everything since then is down to the history of that particular vehicle.0 -

£1200 would buy a much more modern, cheaper to maintain, lower miles Focus petrol.0 -
Not sure there was a 'sport'; do you mean Esprit? I got a 99 model with 100K miles 6 years ago for £750 so your one would have to be amazing to warrant that price unless this 'sport' model is an AMG or something like that?0

If its an AMG it wont have a C180 moniker.0 -
From what I remember from back then (I looked at one as a co.car, ended up with a 155 instead - MB dealer did not want to know, even though I turned up in suit and 2yo 318), Sport was one of the four "trim levels" - Classic, Esprit, Elegance, Sport.EdGasketTheSecond wrote: »Not sure there was a 'sport'; do you mean Esprit?
Ah, yep - here y'go:

AMG back then meant AMG, not this "AMG-line" silliness.0 -

+1 to all of that.
I'd a C36 AMG. Same bodystyle, twice the engine size.0 -
Ah so its an AMG. Check wheel arches and bottom of doors for rust as they are favourite on the W202. No idea what an old AMG is worth, sorry.
Make sure it comes with two keys as Merc charge around £260 for a key and you need a spare as the electronic keys are prone to shock damage and can just stop working.0 -
Did you just read a different thread? No, it isn't.EdGasketTheSecond wrote: »Ah so its an AMG.0 -
Replies 7 and 8 suggest its an AMG the way I read them? I couldn't use your link as it didn't like my ad-blocker.
Well rather than argue about it maybe the OP can tell us exactly what car it is.0
