Hi, I was looking for some information. If you were to self build a new home and then claim the VAT back, are you then able to use the building for businesses purposes or need to wait a period of time before this could be an option? TIA

The VAT reclaim scheme is for residential use.
Of course if once the property is complete, you have moved in, and reclaimed the vat, then if you later decide to use it for some commercial purpose (e.g. B&B) then you can do so.0 -
thanks, yes friend has completed all of above, just her circumstances have now changed and she may need to rent out the house/rooms but wasnt sure if there were timescales involved as she wouldnt want to have to pay back any of the VAT.0
