Systems Down! is this the norm now?

Options
I phone Virgin about something to do with my broadband account. Sorry we can't do anything because our systems are down

Called Asda to put money on my phone.
Sorry we can't do anything because we are having problems call later

Called Bulb to switch to them because their website was having problems and to call them.

That took 10 minutes because they were having problems with their system

Is this the norm now?

When you don't want to pay to provide proper cover for your important systems, especially out of hours, then this is the result.

Similar with Vodafone, their system is always slow. Not sure if they expect me to hang up and forget about claiming the money they took above my normal charges or if their systems really are that slow?

Sorry unable to respond to this thread due to technical difficulties.

But seriously yes, some companies blame anything but their own policies, who hasn't heard recorded messages stating a high volume of calls … whenever you call.

Spoke to Sky on Thursday and there calls were horrendous really crackling line. Tried several times blamed my mobile for poor signal. Then tried landline and it was same, so blamed Sky... Really bad could not hear a thing the call centre woman was saying.

You may be dialling a local rate number, but even if the call-centre is at the end of your road it's entirely likely your call has been routed around the world, by the company's phone system supplier.

I work for a certain large insurance company and we’ve been having an absolute mare with our systems recently. They went off again yesterday. Gremlins must be on overload :D

Many phone systems are now VOIP and many client databases are cloud based it only takes a small issue with the internet to cause a number of problems.

I get that does not help but could be the cause
