OVO Price Hike
Nice to see a letter in post today from OVO stating in April Prices will rise by around £100 per year. Only just switched as ex Economey Energy customer - looks like Ofgen did their homework and allowed them to switch to a company that is going to make approx an extra 20 million from just economy energy customers after only a couple of months into switching. Also note the sudden poor customer service as they were unable to cope with the influx of customers which I'm sure they promised Ofgen they could. Are all energy firms cowboys.... I understand price hikes and changes in supply and demand but surely Ofgen would have put a clause in OVO boosts contract for taking on these customers at least for first 6 months if not a year. They are no better than the energy companies themselves. Luckily I decided to switch the other day as since moving to OVO my meter has been going down like a like a car on a hill with no brakes. Unable to switch to the best rated company Bulb due to the meter I have so cannot get the best rates either. Shame I bet a lot of economy customers have been disapointed not being able to swap to them.

A lot of energy companies are increasing their prices on 1st April as that is when the OFGEM approved rise in the energy price cap is increased by 10%.
So any tariff subject to the price cap limit is being increased up to the new price cap limit.0 -
Bulb accept all meter types, so you can definitely switch to them if you want to.
And Bulb just dropped there's £200 -
I was paying Economy Energy £1,378 a year. I know that Economy Energy had underpriced. OVO will now charge £2,255 after its Simpler Energy price rise. A move (using the MSE site) to Octopus fixed comes in at £1,758, i.e. £497 a year cheaper than OVO. I suspect that OVO will lose a great many of the customers that it has just acquired.I have osteoarthritis in my hands so I speak my messages into a microphone using Dragon. Some people make "typos" but I often make "speakos".0

Another ex-Economy Energy customer - hardly any communication from OVO and then an increase in tariff. They estimate the rise will cost us around £170pa, not a massive amount but still a kick in the teeth for new customer.
Oddly, when I was walking away from EE I went to Bulb and they did exactly the same during the switch over so I cancelled!
Any recommendations for my next move?

When did you try to switch? Bulb just dropped prices, but your best bet is to find out your
a energy consumption and do a whole of market comparison
