Paying for Trip in Dollars

I am going to Nepal in October. I am paying for flights here in UK but using a very good Nepalese company to organised treks. They will request payment in US dollars. My query is twofold. Firstly, what is the most economical, efficient and safest way to do this. Secondly, if i pay now (so pre-Brexit) by credit card or whatever means, will the transaction still be insured in October/November.
Many thanks for any information.

Can they take a dollar payment off a credit card?0

No idea. I assume (but could be wrong) that it is no different to buying something from the states online. Credit Card company pay in dollars and charge you in sterling using their conversion rate. I am going to phone them today and ask this.0

I assume their credit card machine would be set up to charge in USD, maybe this is a standard thing in Nepal. If it does then this is probably the best way of doing it, it then just comes down to what your card provider charges in fees.0 -

And if your current card provider doesn't give you a good deal, is it a matter of urgency to pay right now, or can you wait a few days while you get one of the best travel credit cards?0 -

Why mention Brexit when Nepal isnt affected by Brexit.
Because Brexit has had an adverse impact on all exchange rates. Against the $ a drop of more than 10%. Currency regardless of whether an EU countries or not or if in or out of EU will be impacted.
I would assume if paying by CC then S75 of the CC Act would cover if no service is actually provided, assuming you are paying the service provider direct!0 -
