Drover Car subscription

Hi

I was wondering if anyone had any experience of Drover or any other car subscription.

I am visiting the UK from the USA - I'll be in the UK for upto 4-5 months at a time to visit family.

I have considered car leasing but the good deals tend to over longer durations. I have looked into car subscriptions such as Drover but wondered if anyone had any experience?

    No experience of Drover but I think a lot of the car rental companies do long term rentals. Might be worth ringing some and checking.

    To add to Motorguys advice.

    Try the UK and US versions of the websites using a vpn where appropriate as dual pricing is not uncommon and you may find the exchange rate works in your favour

    Chancey i'd have thought -
    • get here
    • buy a car (which will take time and effort)
    • insure a car which could be tricky / pricey
    • tax the car
    • run the car for four months and hope it needs £0 maintenance
    • find / pay for a reliable mechanic if it does
    • sell the car in advance of leaving for a reasonable amount
    • cancel the insurance
    • hope that all of the above costs less than a long term rental

    Seems a lot of effort with no guarantee of a saving?

    Might have missed the boat here, but I deal with Drover and have put a link on the referrer thread so we both get £50. Other companies to consider include Cocoon Group, Flexigo Cars and Short Term Car Leasing

    If you're visiting family over here it's going to be a lot cheaper to borrow a car and get added to their insurance. Or just buying a car outright and leaving a family member to look after it (assuming this visit isn't a one-off).
