Does anyone know if the Student Loans Company ever forgives part of the loan if you pay in full, in one lump sum? Is it even worth asking?

No, they don't.

My student loans were sold off to Erudio and I’ve had a letter this week to say if I pay half what I owe they will wipe the rest off. These are old style loans however, and I will never earn enough to pay them back (about £3000 per month!) so I’m leaving it until the age related cancellation. I suppose it’s worth asking, you never know.Fashion on a ration 0 of 660
