Alliance and Leicester credit card - who to claim to?

I have been going through old paperwork after a house move and have found old credit card statements for an Alliance and Leicester credit card I opened in Dec 1997 and closed in 2014. I have all the statements and going through them I can see that there is no "payment protection cover" listed on the statement until September 2003 when it starts to appear.

I am using the Money Saving Expert PPI "resolver" form and when I select "Alliance and Leicester" in the drop down list, it selects "Abbey National" instead - that doesn't seem right?

Also, looking at the credit card statements for later years it seems the card was provided by MBNA Europe Ltd.

Does anyone know who I should approach for this claim?
thank you.
