Is Amex's travel inconvenience cover worth it?

Hi Forum,
What do you think Amex's travel inconvenience insurance cover? Has anyone had to make use of it? I struggle to find reviews online.
Currently I have their Rewards Credit Card which does not have this specific cover. On my last trip to Spain I almost missed my connection flights (last flight of the day), so that got me thinking whether getting one of their charge card just for that. The price difference is £60 annual fee for the lowest tier, i.e. the green charge card (which also offers travel accident cover and 1 year additional warranty). Say, I value the inconvenience cover at £20 per year.
Are third party insurance providers better than Amex's credit card inclusions? Also, and perhaps more importantly, how does Amex handle claims? Is their inconvenience cover worth anything?
Thanks
