How long for gloss to dry?

Options
Came to do my front door today and glossed over it, I left it open for 2 hours before I had to go out, came back in and its still sticky another 3 hours later.

Not wet just a little sticky.

Oil based paint or water based. Oil based stuff can be up to 16 hours to dry - water based would normally be about 4 hours but as its cold, you'd need to allow longer.

I really don't know they never said, its been almost 6 hours though.

I dont want my door open too long you see, its freezing and I have junkies upstairs so its a risk.

Green and blue are usually water based, the rest usually oil based. Should be on the back of the tin.

Cold, damp weather will be prolonging your drying times.
