This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning Holly, thank you for starting the thread.

If you do several batch cooks when you can muster tge energy, you will end up with a choice of home made ready meals, it is only the first one or two batches when you end up eating the same thing every day.

I've had another night of poor sleep, at least the snow has mostly thawed, allowing my OH to get to the airport later. While he's off collecting DS I'll get everything tidy so that he can mess it up when he arrives.

I'll do a Sunday roast on a Monday tonight. I'm not working until Wednesday this week, just using up some annual leave.

Hope everyone has a good day, Deleted_User good to hear that your DD is on the mend.

Morning all,

Slept well considering I spent most of yesterday afternoon asleep. I must have needed it though. Thankfully, no hound needed to go out, no hound went walkabout during the night.

Grump left for work half an hour ago. Youngests alarm will be going off soon.

Childcare day for me. Diva isn't keen on jars of baby food so I'll try her with something home made.

Onwards and forwards

Have a great day all

I spent most of yesterday writing lists, browsing Pinterest, reading blogs, and eating :D I've finished the border on my blanket, not sure I'm entirely happy with it. I'll leave it for a few days and if I'm still not happy I'll unravel it and try something else.

Has anyone seen Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agancy? I really like it and have no idea why - I've watched three episodes so far and am getting more confused by the minute. I have no idea what's going on and think it'd make more sense if I watched it while drunk :D

We had some rain yesterday, it didn't last long then the sun came out and I had to open the back door and a couple of windows to cool the house down a bit!

The first of three loads of washing has just finished, I need to sweep and mop downstairs and hoover upstairs. I have work for most of the morning. I'm going back to work today, hurrah! I will be very glad to get there and get back to normality, the children can have a later start if the parents choose, up to 9.45 before they are marked late or we have to start phoning to see if they are ok.

Went to the SM yesterday for fruit and veg but there wasn't much there, I'll use what is in the freezer. Also went for lunch with DD, first time I've seen her since before she went on holiday on Feb 7th!

I've decided that the diet starts today, it's been the 'Feast from the East' for me, I've done nothing but eat while I've been off! Going to join the fat club on Thursday but thought it would be a good idea to get going today.

Pleased to hear your DD is home csarina, what a scary thing to happen.
You're doing really well Holly, you will probably feel so much better for eating properly.
Enjoy having DS home AOD!

Have a good day, take care. XX

Morning everyone

Hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off, remember just doing a few bits each day helps, don't try to do too much otherwise it just overwhelms you x

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Now light, wet and soggy here, laying water everywhere from the thawed out snow, and we didn't have very much at all, hate to think what it would be like if we'd had deep snow. Much milder too.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly, I think he'll be hoping for pancakes for breakfast, sometimes it's a Monday treat if there's batter left from yesterday's Yorkshires.

Lunch yesterday was roast pork, roasties, mash, cauli and brocolli in cheese sauce, carrots, peas, yorkshires and gravy. Fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg for dinner tonight, hairdresser is coming so will be a bit of a late meal.

We visited the outlaws and my parents yesterday, all ok with them all.

Back to work today, thinking it may be busy as the weather is much better and people can get out and about easier. We'll see.

Keep safe and well x

Morning all

Thanks for the thread Holly, hugs to those in need, great news Csarina.

I've had very little sleep and woken up with face ache. My tenant phoned at 6 last night to tell me there is a leak in the kitchen, it's been leaking for 3 days and she's been too busy to phone. Three days will have done heaven knows how much damage to the kitchen. The lease states that problems must be reported within 24 hours, I shall be writing to her later today, I spent the entire night tossing and turning and grinding my teeth!

Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester
Chin up, Titus out.
• Morning folks and thanks HOLLY. Dare I say it but there looks to be marginally less snow out there this morning - a thaw must be setting in at last. Please let that be an end to the snow now. We had our first falls in November and it seems to have been a long cold winter since then.

Good news CSARINA. I hope your DD soon makes a full recovery. It will probably take time. You'll feel happier when you have actually seen her yourself.

TRU I have never heard of that programme. It sounds err diferent but interesting too! What channel is it on?

I think today may well be a CBA day but will try and fit in the odd job or two if I can make the effort. Lots of leftovers from yesterday's lunch so that will be dinner tonight, plated up and popped in the mw. Doubtless it will be the usual soup for lunch, with perhaps a bacon sarnie. I was whizzing a big batch of pea and ham soup on Saturday and my liquidiser just stopped. Oh no, I thought, more expense! But it turned out to be just the fuse. It's done me good service over the years so I couldn't complain if it had died.

Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) as always where they are needed. Take care xx

I always read but don’t often post.

Snow all gone down here in our little corner of Kent.

Made good use of snow time to decorate hall stairs and landing, living room, kitchen and cloakroom still to do before the nicer weather comes and can get to allotment.

trying out SW recipes before joining local group on Wednesday, have meal planned them and eaten a couple, very good so far.

Off to Hythe today, good to be out and about.

Hope you’re all OK if weather still bad in your various locations

Good morning everyone.

Light before 7.00sm, lovely! It does not seem quite as cold as last week.

Tru - I really enjoyed Dirk Gently, only one series but Stephen Manghan (?) was perfect in the role. And yes, definitely a bit weird. A

Yesterday was peaceful and restful. My liver, onions, peas and mash was so tasty. There is enough for today too.

I am going down to DMs on Wednesday afternoon this week to prepare for her birthday and calm her nerves. She now thinks there will be more snow and all will be ruined!

Now I have got teaching this morning and then will spend some time prepping.

Take care everyone, keep snug and safe.

Happy Monday

Morning all. It's definitely thawing here, there's still plenty of snow lying though.

I wasn't out yesterday, that's the third day in a row, it's a long time for me not to be out. I'll be out this morning though as it's my Book Group. It's at the library which is just a short walk away. I've got a little bit of shopping to get while I'm out,

Lunch will probably be the lentil and tomato soup I made last night in the slow cooker, I use the slow cooker so much in the winter. I think we may have fish and chips tonight, there's fish in the freezer and I'll make oven chips in the halogen, if that makes sense.

Glad your daughter is home Csarina, how relieved you must be.
Hester, your tenant seems to give you some grief

Take care folks, whatever you are doing
