Medicare homecare and lifecare added to loan on top of PPI!

I took a secured loan out in 2003 with Welcome Finance. PPI , Medicare 24, homecare 24 and lifecare 24 were added to the policy , which were never explained to us, and we have since discovered were missold as my ex partner was self employed so they would never have paid out. (He was lead name and they knew he was self employed.)

They are looking into the PPI, but they are refusing the other insurances as they claim they are not PPI and they negotiated with the courts as part of their liquidation they would only be liable for PPI.

I think these policies are a form of PPI, just branded differently. Has anyone been successful claiming Mis selling of these policies from welcome finance?

PPI is payment protection insurance. In what way do you suggest the other policies protect your loan payments?
  • They sound more like Medicare, Homecare and Lifecare products than PPI to me.

I’m waiting to be sent the policy documents or schedule, but I thought they were insurance for the loan to be paid due to sickness or death (I have no clue what homecare even is, and neither does welcome when I spoke to them and they have no idea who underwrote this insurance.

Medicare and lifecare were provided by direct group, and on their website it specifically mentions they provide PPI, no mention of other illnes or life insurance
