Withdrawing money from suspended barclays bank account using Paypal.

Hi so recently my bank account was put under review by Barclays for no clear reason which I came to realise was not an uncommon issue. I have been using my payslips to access the money I have proof for. However there is more money in there that I cannot proof at the moment is mine according to them until they finish their investigation. I tried to use paypal to take a direct debit out of my account to see if it would and surprisingly it did as the bank told me the account was effectively frozen. I'm confused now what to do with these funds. Can I keep them or will this cause further issues? Plus is it possible that the funds are withheld in the bank account and paypal has overdrafted from my bank account although I don't have any overdraft setup? Thanks.

I can't say for sure but my view is that the suspension doesn't affect DDs, and you've found a loophole that allows you as well as the more normal DD originators access to the account. I'm pretty sure it will be your money that's been debited, I'd move it out of the PayPal account asap just in case Barclays have some method of reversing the DD.

I'm fairly sure while under suspension with Barclays your DDR's and STO's will still leave as long as the funds are there, it's just card payments and funds transfers that won't work.

I'd honestly advise against it though. If your bank thinks you're doing something wrong, then doing something which circumvents that probably isn't going to look good.
