My Experian report is showing a soft search (Identification-Generic Check) from a company that I have never heard of called Lexis Nexis.
This company appears to be some sort of online library specialising in legal and accountancy textbooks which offers free trials.
I have never had any dealings with this company.
I will be contacting this company and Experian when they open later today and advise.
How concerned should I be at this stage?
Is there anything further I should do at this stage?
Thank you

Hiya, don't worry I had this same concern some time last year and after investigating it turned out it was in regards to an insurance quote search. For example on a comparison site. :)

Thanks for your reply. It appears there is more than one lexis nexis. I wish Google had put the insurance people on the first page of the search results because I have now sent quite a nasty e-mail to the law and accountancy book people.
It appears that this is in relation to the renewal of a motor insurance policy of a family member which has been with the same broker and insurance company for years and on which I am listed as a named driver.
But I am still puzzled because this search was done 3 days ago and we received the renewal letter from the insurance broker over a week ago and we have not been doing any looking around or using comparison sites..
    Thanks again cjv.

I don't think you can lay the blame for that on google. :)

It is always a good idea to check your facts very carefully before firing off nasty messages. Hopefully you've followed it up with a grovelling apology :)
