Health insurance question

I wonder if anyone can offer any advice.
I have health insurance with Vitality and have never claimed nor have any pre-existing conditions.
I am experiencing some discomfort in my chest when excersising and my normal GP suggested that I use a 24hr heart tape machine to check it all out and would refer me to the specialist.
It was suggested I contact Vitality to speed up this process from 6 wks to 1wk which i may well do.
My question is. If I proceed through Vitality and after checks it shows that I have no problems will it still be considered a pre-existing condition upon renewal because I have seen a GP about it?
Thanks in advance.

Hi There, to answer your question, it would be considered a pre-existing condition, but one that you now have protection for under your policy. It would also be considered a claim. Depending on which insurer you are with, claiming can have an influence on your renewal premium, I think vitality do not penalise you for a claim under £350, Anything over that and you will see an increase on top of the increase for your age, medical inflation and the soon to be rise in insurance premium tax.
I hope this helps0
