USBSAFE:Fatal Error......

Hi
My daughters new Laptop (2 days old) shows this message after start up:

'USBSAFE:Fatal error support only windows 98'

Can someone tell me what it means and how to get rid of it please?

What's the model of her laptop? Even better provide a link as to where she purchased it, or considering it's only 2 days old. Take it back to where she bought it from and have them sort the problem out as it's obviously not fit for purpose if she's being bugged by this error.

Or you could type 'evenvwr' in Start\Run and press Ok. Then in the eventviewer look for Applications, or System and find any red circles with a white 'X' in the middle. Double click the entry, it should open a window and possibly direct you to a Microsoft url explaining the problem.

Before you do that though, have you added anything to the laptop after buying it? USB memory key etc?

It's a Toshiba Amilo Li1705 - It was purchased from Makro (Wholesale) by a friend.

We've installed a disk 'Nero something' which came with the Laptop, sorry to be vague but the Laptop isn't here at the moment.

We've installed 'Word 2000' which is our own - seems to work correctly.

I will check the tips tonight - in the meantime, thanks for your help.

Any hardware in use on it? I mention USB key as some come with software loaded on them. Also have you tried a system restore to a point before the issue arose?
