Touring Caravan Insurance - Frank Pickles?

Options
I've just done a comparison on caravan insurance and Frank Pickles comes out cheapest at half my renewal price. I've never heard of them and can't find any positive or negative reviews after a quick google.

My previous insurer has been telling me to be very wary of what's actually insured as they couldn't possibly get anywhere near this low a price. I've been through last years policy booklet and the Frank Pickles one and the terms seem the same.

Has anyone used this company before or have any advice? It's a new for old policy on a 1yr old caravan and I don't want to make a very expensive mistake if I have to claim. On the other hand there's a £180 difference between the two policies.

Who is the insurance company? They are just the broker.

£180 less, that must be a huge chunk of the actual premium?

A few have mentioned them and cheap quotes but i have not found anyone reveal the actual insurance company. Or what happens after a claim.

It says Ageas on the policy booklet for underwriter.

The cheaper policy is half the price of the renewal. I'm tempted but I was hoping to find someone who's used them.

Personally I'd stick with one of the Clubs, they are specialists, very competeive, and providing you have a valid claim, it's unlikely you will have any problems. One to definatley avoid is E&L.

    I would be very careful.
We called to advise moving our caravan to a new storage site. CASSOA Gold and part of the 2nd largest distributor in the UK.
We were told we would not be covered as the area was subject to flooding.
And that as Frank Pickles were, as a broker, tied to that Underwriter they could offer no alternative.
And that there would be no refund on the 16 weeks left on our policy.
Gocompare produced a long list of companies and surprise, Frank Pickles were top of the list.
We picked another company assuming that even though the same postcode we had just given them was the one we used to do the premium search there was some system defect.
First point - the quote we got was cheaper than our current annual premium and with Allianz not a small Underwriter. And it included European cover.
Second point: half an hour after getting the alternative quote Frank Pickles rang offering cover, having been prompted by the search and picking up the phone number.
The agent insisted that they would be quite happy to provide cover despite our repeating what we had been told earlier.
The reason eventually given was that it would be with a 'different underwriter.'
They even offered to discount a new policy by the amount we were losing when cancelling the old one.
The whole thing sounded very fishy and, on the basis that so many Insurance Companies will use the slightest technical or small print excuse to wriggle out of a claim, we felt sufficiently suspicious to turn down the offer and stay with Allianz.
Finally - as many of you will know - all premiums are pretty much the same and vary based on two things. The cover and excess. Every agent in their call centres has two objectives - try to hold to the online quote and close the policy sale, failing that discount to their authorised level or ask their manager if to much but at all costs, close the policy sale.
I don't think you have to go to a cheap company to get a low cost policy.
