OS daily Thursday 26 May

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

    Morning everyone.

Fairly dull this morning in Glasgow. Maybe the cloud will burn off later.

Yesterday was a beast of a day that I don't want to have again. Mum changes her mind so often, makes plans in her head and then doesn't understand that she hasn't told me! Anyway, we had a day outside in the sun in town, a bite to eat in GOMA and a grumble about our bus no longer stopping outside Watt Brothers in Hope Street.

This morning I taking Mum to her docs appointment and then we both have dental appointments in early afternoon after which I'll head home. It's been nice to be here but I need to be home.

    Happy Thursday everyone b

Morning, thank you for starting us off Gers.

Today should be a day off but I have to work, but I did take Tuesday as I have so much time owing.

It won't be a heavy day so I can pace things.

Yesterday I had a challenging job in the morning, then a meeting at lunchtime but when I got to my meeting, found that it was a spoof and there sat my teammates with coffee and cakes, cards and a birthday gift, how lovely is that!

Today the sun is not shining, bit like yesterday. I have washing to do but yesterday's load is still airing so will leave it for a day. Shock horror, washing machine will not know what to do with itself.

I am trying to remember to do hand and wrist exercises regularly.

Hope everyone has a good day.

I've loaded my car with old bedding and clothes to take to the CS today plus another box of books and a box of raffle prizes.
I received a lovely text about the story I read at the Writers Circle and I've written one for next week too, both are on my blog if you want to read them.
    Have a good day everyone.

    Lovely surprise AOD!
    Deep breaths Gers!
    Have a good break nmlc.

No sunshine this morning, grey clouds but it isn't forecast to rain so the washing is out anyway.

More driveway scraping last night - I really didn't want to do it but did my hour anyway. I can see progress but it's fairly slow!

I need to survive today then we have a long weekend for half term, lots to do here and at DDs so should be busy. Must do some cleaning inside, spent so much time on the driveway the inside of the house has slipped.

Have a good day, take care. XX

    Morning chums,

AOD - that's lovely. Hope you enjoyed it.
Camelot - well done on plodding away on the drive. It'll be worth it in the end.

Today will be work followed by a relaxed evening. Up nice and bright this morning. Ready to seize the day!

Hope everyone is well and has a lovely day.

    Morning all,

Nice bright day here but a little breezy off to work for me but the weekend is looming and it a long one :T

I think little Evie is having a phantom pregnancy, she has a little red squeaky ball which she has become obsessed with and is constantly running round with it in her mouth and whining, poor little thing we have hidden it from her and will give it back after her lady op :o

Chips for dinner tonight will go and look in the freezer after this to see what we can have with them, will be something quick though.

Need to wash some work t-shirts tonight will hang them out if I can.

Right better get on have good days all xx

    Morning :hello:

camelot I had a plate for six months while I was waiting for the gum to heal and settle (it didn't take that long but the dentist said it was best to wait six months). I hated it, especially when eating. And it felt like I permanently had a boiled sweet in my mouth, lol. After the first couple of months I didn't use it unless I left the house, it spent most of it's time drowning in a glass of water. I already have two bridges and after that plate, they felt great. I forget they're not real, they feel so normal and I have to remind myself to clean them slightly differently to the rest, lol. Superfloss, great stuff :D

I have new carpet on the stairs and landing :j Love that new carpet smell :D We've been putting off replacing it for a while, Scampi had great fun pulling the edges up when we first got him then spent the next few months pulling at the threads. He lost interest about four months ago so this one should be safe :D

Mum's popping round for coffee at 11am. No other plans for today, I'll just be pottering about tidying and cleaning.

Before my little dog, sadly deceased, was speyed, she had a spiky rubber ball which was a baby most of the time but when she decided to stop protecting her baby and emerge from her basket, the baby turned back into a ball and was hurled around the house!

    Morning everyone,

Dull and cloudy here, was cold in the night but think that's because I throw the covers off in the middle of a flush and then wake up cold.

Have booked today off to make it a nice long weekend, wont be back in now until next Tuesday. Stumbled through work yesterday as was so tired and did have a nap on the sofa in the afternoon before going to see Bill. Had a long chat with Mum in the evening, her poor friend in hospital has had to have her leg amputated as the infection was spreading up, poor thing, it's a big op for a lady in her seventies :(
Kind of puts my anger with my SIL in perspective but at the very least it was extremely thoughtless and will make me mindful of what I tell her in the future :o
Well, on a happier note, finished the 8 weeks of the BSD today and have lost 20lbs so just one shy of my best target of one & half stone. Am so pleased with that, feel much better in myself and happier when I look in the mirror! Will now move to 5:2 and hope to lose 8 more to hit the two stone off by the wedding in August.
As a treat we are going out for lunch today so looking forward to that, original plan was to find a pub with a garden but think the weather has put pay to outside dining!
AOD what a lovely surprise, no more than you deserve though
RR oh poor little Evie, my old collie dog used to try and make a bed in the under stairs cupboard to have her phantom pups in

Have a good day everyone, take care folks x

    Morning all,

Not posting much lately, but am reading.

Hester - you,ll be sat in an empty house soon the way you are going :) well done in the writing X

Gers - I sympathise with you my MIL phoned last night to ask when my DD gets back from Africa - she,s been back over a month and we've been to see MIL several times since her return with gifts and photo's to show her - MIL also asks me things about post war, as if I was there - DH just thinks it's funny, I do worry about her X

AOD - how lovely, what a treat X
RR - poor Evie, hope she,s okay - when's her op?

Dumpling - love reading your progress - well done X

The only news I have is that DS is driving us mad with revision questions - we 'have' to txt him questions and vet his answers as often as possible - what happened to face to face :(

And we have booked a holiday!!!!!! DH is self employed, so rarely takes time off, so it will be our Honeymoon (married in 2014) - we're off to Porto in Portugal mid July - it looks stunning - we're not beach people, so looking forward to exploring :)

Stuffed peppers, salad and greek(ish) chicken for dinner.

Off to hang out the first load of washing

Edit - Lainy - well done on weight loss too - Don,t know how I missed your post -
