North 500 route

I drove the route from Inverness to Applecross in June 2014; having previously driven from Inverness to John O Groats in the late eighties. I'm hoping to do the other 250 miles or so next June.

My advice would be is to split the 500 miles up into at least three days as a lot of the route in the north west and around Applecross is single track (with passing places). However even in June most of the roads are empty.

Fill up with petrol when you have a chance as petrol stations are few and far especially on the west coast. And finally, take a camera or better still a Dashcam, the scenery is stunning.
