World wide timeshare hypermarket have been in business for over 20 years. They wouldn't be if they didnt do what they say- buy and sell timeshares.
Well I bought 2 high season weeks for 700 (350 per week) and used it for 4 years and sold it for 700. You don't need to pay advertising fees to sell - I didn't! and it sold within 6 weeks.
Just remember , a timeshare has similar depreciation as buying a new car, so if your "High Season" week cost £10K "direct" 10 years ago, if you get a grand for it now then that's about right.
Same goes if you are a buyer. If you can buy at 10p in the £ , then you are less likely to be disappointed.

Thanks budgetflyer. They're definitely being realistic on price - their expectation is that the mostly likely outcome it not selling it, and simply handing it back (which they are thankfully allowed to do).

They had the weeks independently valued, and were told that 'officially' should be worth £2000 per week, but at market rates more like £1200 per week.

My parents have decided to go even lower than that, and would be really pleased to get £600 per week. So hopefully this will help. Looks like they now have until end of December to try to sell, now that this year's weeks have been let out and so costs covered.

Will suggest they use the site you've mentioned as it looks legit from what I can see, and ultimately nothing to lose on the free listing option.

    Thanks for your help.

If I remember correctly the OP stated that maintenance costs per week were quite low, if this is the case would it be worth them taking on the Timeshares and with a bit of knowledge on exchanges they could have some really good holidays all over the World.

Other people have suggested this. But we are firstly exceedingly picky (at least I admit it!) so would not be happy restricted to a pool of timeshare-only properties for holidays. Secondly we like to travel to different places each year, so it hardly seems worth the hassle of having a timeshare, trying to swap it each year, when we'd have no intention of ever using the actual original timeshare unit. Thirdly a lot of our holidays tend to end up being self-drive ones where we have one or two nights in each place, meaning we can travel around a lot. We couldn't do this with a timeshare swap.

Rash, ill researched decisions = disappointment

I originally had 2 Timeshares in the Canary Islands so had 4 weeks in total, all were bought on eBay quite a few years ago for very low prices, we had some very good holidays but then decided to sell the one in Tenerife as we didn't feel that we were getting value for money for the maintenance fees that we were paying so after trying with Worldwide Timeshare Hypermarket with no success - weeks were offered at £500 per week! I decided to offer them:D back to the Resort at no cost and walk away, they were not interested and offered Fractional Ownership at a cost of £5k per week owned so £10k in total with the chance that we would possibly get something back when the unit was eventually sold, I declined and then didn't pay any more maintenance fees. That was 4 years ago, yes I was chased for fees but I did my homework and stood my ground and nothing happened, with the Supreme Court Ruling in Spain in 2015 that in perpetuity contracts and floating weeks were illegal it means that you should be able to walk away at no cost.

I have also used Dial an Exchange for many years and being a Gold Member means that I get priority requests and I have swapped into 3 bed condos in Florida a few times so it does work but you have to do your homework.I spent a lovely week in November in Tenerife at the Pearly Grey Resort which was one of the last banked weeks that I had with Dial an Exchange and will be going back again in September this year.

My other Timeshare is in Gran Canaria and is a RCI Gold Crown Resort but I am happy to keep this as I can see where my maintenance fees are going but even they are having to adapt because of new legislation so are now offering short term packages into Timeshare because people don't want to be tied into long term ownership.

We just gave ours back to the timeshare company (for an 'admin' fee) they then resell it.........Have you asked if they do that?

I know it's an old thread but might be of use to new people reading......

    Hi, newbie here,

Bumping this thread as I was wanting some advice. My mother in law has passed away and has 3 timeshare weeks which are now as I understand it, part of the estate. My wife and I have no desire to keep these as a going concern but we are reading really worrying articles about us being liable for these or pay exorbitant fees to hand them back.

Some advice sites say that 'in perpetuity' contracts are now illegal but it looks like a minefield. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Perhaps just do a bit of research into the specific 3 weeks timeshare that may be part of the estate, they may not be as problematic as you might currently be perceiving. Do a search to see if any weeks are currently for sale and the asking prices.
Your MIL may have not entered into an in perpetuity contract, just in case she has, perhaps search for a good lawyer who specialises in this kind of situation, be careful of some no win no fee proposals.
