Hi All
I don't seem to see a good wombling thread on the debt free wannabee boards at the moment so I thought I'd start my own. I'm guessing most people know that wombling refers to making use of things you find for financial gain. Examples could be receipts that you have added onto your loyalty cards for your own gain. Some I find are: unclaimed Nectar points, Tesco club cards points, Toys R Us gold card points, Costa card points, mcdonalds cups with the bean sticker still on (collect 6 for a free coffee) also price promise reciepts for tesco & brand match coupons for sainsburys which are better than roadkill as many are over a £1.
I am going to keep track from Jan 1st on the value I find in the main categories & may zero sum them from the relevant budgets.
My aim for 2015 is every time I leave my house to try & find one item that makes my life cheaper!
Love to hear from others doing similar.

Today's wombling efforts. Went for a walk after Xmas lunch. Found:
1. A £20 toys r us receipt with unclaimed points on it.
2. 4 mcdonalds cups with bean stickers intact. I now have enough in total for a free coffee tommorow & I haven't paid for a single one of the loyalty points. Litter bugs have their benefits I suppose.
Cost benefit £1.39 for Mcdonalds coffee
2 points for Toys R Us card." Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

I never find anything Bob, even when I go out with my rubber gloves and bin bag to pick up the rubbish dropped outside on the grass verge by passing idiots  We live on a small through road between the town and all its takeaway delights, and a housing estate where most of their customers seem to live, so I go out there at least once a week. It is always just rubbish, though the odd beer can or bottle goes into the recycling
I will subscribe to your thread though, as I love hearing about your finds0 -
Good for you doing that Dawn. Keep your eyes peeled though.you never know!" Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

Thanks little pink purse
Today's efforts.
1. I took wombled nectar reciepts totalling 176 points to be added on. This gave me £4.12 on my card for free so far.
2. I gathered shopping worth £12.17 which included a 3kg gammon ham then used a £1.50 off £10 shop coupon, 3 brand match coupons totalling £3.11 & one £2.50 nectar instant rewards off my above mentioned points. This took my shopping from £12.17 to £5.06. All coupons found locally.
3. I collected a large black coffee for free from Mcdonalds which would have been £1.69 all reward points collected from cups lying around.
4. I found a tesco reciept with 2 unclaimed points
5. I found a double nectar points on your next shop voucher
6. A toys r us receipt for £41.95 so 41 points to add on.
7. And 1p roadkill.
Because I would have spent the shopping money (£7.11) & the coffee money (£1.69) I will make a payment to my credit card totalling these spends.

Hi like this idea!
Do you take 'unclaimed points' receipts to the shop and say you didn't have your loyalty card with you? Or something else? How do you know they are unclaimed?
Any other ideas?
Thank you0 -

Hi Homelovin
Exactly that. I take a few at a time. No more than 3. Check the date and time stamps as well. No one has challenged me so far but it helps to choose ones that aren't all 3 minutes apart and if you have a choice of a few stores to take them to then do that. Wearing a fake moustache is optional you know they are unclaimed as if you turn the reciept over it highlights the number of points you would have recieved had you used a nectar card. Same with tesco.
Other ideas. If you are a member of any petrol loyalty schemes I don't see why you couldn't collect unclaimed points for that too." Your vibe attracts your tribe":D
