Roommate's electoral roll info appearing on my credit report?

I've already used up my free trials of Experian, Callcredit and Equifax, and got everything sorted. The only thing that wasn't sorted out before the trials expired was the electoral roll info, as we only moved into this house in August and apparently it takes until December/January for that info to get updated.

So today I used checkmyfile.com to do some more checks, and found an oddity.

Experian now list my electoral roll info correctly, however they also list my roommate's electoral roll as a separate entry.

We do not have any joint accounts, all the bills are in my name and she pays me a fixed monthly amount, literally the only place where both names are listed is on the tenancy agreement.

The only explanation for this that I can think of is that we both have the same first name?

Is it normal for Experian to show everyone living at my address on my credit report, or has something gone wrong here?

Something has gone wrong. People living at the same address should not be visible on each other's credit files. You can write to the CRAs to get this sorted out.
  • Get your £2 report with Experian and Equifax and your free one with Noddle (Callcredit). Always go to the source direct, checkmyfile is not reliable.

It's probably the joint tenancy agreement

A joint tenancy doesn't link credit file it's probably a data issue.

I can see it's not reliable, however if checkmyfile can grab her name with only my details, either there is a much bigger data breach going on, and/or other organisations can find it too?

I sent Experian an email will see what happens.

When a lender searches consumers credit files they see all the people registered to the address.

Lum only mentioned electoral roll information - that is not credit data. It certainly would show up when you look at who is registered at your address. It does not mean your credit files are linked.

And yet, at my previous address, my ex partner never showed up on the credit file?

If the data is provided then it can. As there's a financial association between the parties.

I've rented numerous times and never had a connection. A landlord can't create an association. Would be pointless it could be removed instantly add there is no financial product linking them together. So well have to agree to disagree.

Anyway my guess is the data is mixed up.
