Beresford Adams/Countrywide £200 cashback for using conveyancing

Beresford Adams estate agents are exceptionally expensive. Would not use them again I have to say, but we did and too late.
We will have ended up paying over £3500 costs just to their estate agency in order to sell a property not much over £90,000 - which I think is a shocking mark up.
But I wondered if anyone had dealings over a 'Cash Back' form we were given promising £200 back on completion as a thank you or taking a marketing package with them - something we took into account when going with them.
I have now been advised there is no point submitting it as we will not get a penny. Apparently this only applies if you use Countrywide Conveyancing.
The form actually says you have to use them or any of their recommended partners.
We were recommended to a conveyance by the Countrywide estate agent and it was never stated that this was not compliant with the cash back. We reasonably took recommended to mean what it says. They recommended a firm. We agreed. Without any warning this invalidated the cash back deal.
Is this common practice with Beresford Adams/Countrywide and is it just me who considers this not exactly playing fair with their customers?

I too, am having trouble with this. I agreed to Countrywide doing it all for me on the promise that it was all 'joined up' faststart conveyancy, 7 days a week contact with the solicitor, and £200. Sadly the service I ended up with was pitifully poor. They must have farmed out my legal work to Fraser Brown Solicitors.
I completed on 14th February, was promised the form in the post (never received), chased it up myself with the area office, returned completed forms 7th March and have heard nor received nothing despite chasing up twice since.
My advice do not be tempted by the cashback / discounts etc - get a local reputable solicitor (if they are rubbish at least you can turn up at the office if they dont answer your calls!!) - I wont make this mistake again.
Would love to hear if anyone has managed to get the promised cashback.
PS their mortgage insurance arranged at homebuyer special deal was £50 per month more expensive than using a comparison site with the EXACT same provider. I used the cool off 30 days pretty sharpish there!!0
