On Friday I took a telephone call from a David Wilson, he asked for me personally and said he was working for Tulip Communications. The number he called from was 0030157256231204. He said he was just confirming my recent request to stop all unsolicited calls and that £47 would be taken from my card account shortly and that an e-mail would be sent to me confirming this.
I told him that I had no connection with Tulip Communications and that he must be mistaken.
He was very insistent that I had put in this request.
I asked him for his address in order that I could send him a solicitors letter.
He hung up.
There is a company called Tulip Communications in Cardiff, so I called them only to be kept in a cue for 30 minutes, after which I put the phone down.
I am very wary of calls like this and the many e-mails one now gets. :mad:

It certainly sounds like a scam. Why would a communications company be calling you from Greece...?
It also sounds rather strange that he was phoning you to confirm your request, whilst insisting that you HAD put in the request. If that were the case, he should just have processed it -- no need to call for confirmation if he's going to insist that you have already made your wishes perfectly clear!
The other clue is that he panicked and hung up when you asked for his address! As a scammer, that's not going to be a line of enquiry he'll be happy to help you with!0 -

Report it on the Information Commissioner's website especially as you have an organisation name and a phone number.
The ICO has already issued fines against cold callers and that was due partly to people reporting to him.

do not bother calling the firms direct. just report them.
Are you sure you did not disclose any personal details? Even in the call you made.Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0 -
