How to find out if a company abroad has gone bust??

Hi - Does anyone know if you can find out if a company in Portugal has gone bust?? I booked an apartment in Sao Martinho do Porto through a company called Martinhos Property Services - they have there own website and I even met the couple last year in SMP as the guy has his own bar. Now 4 weeks til we are due to fly out I cant get hold of them, not answering emails or phone calls which is majorly worrying. I've sent them a booking form and £133 to book - do assume that this company has gone?? Even if they do contact me know I'm worried about handing more money over!
If I find something else can they do anything legally regarding the booking?
What would you do??

How did you pay the £133?
If they've not sent you any sort of contact with you, sent you contract or invoice/receipt for money etc. I can't see how they can do anything against you.0 -
