pushy salesmen from st. Helen's glass

I've just had a salesman round from st. Helen's glass. (It was basically to get a very pushy woman to stop phoning me as I had recently got solar panels from an affiliated company, always a mistake, I admit.)
I told the guy, Antony, when he arrived, that I agreed to the quote to stop harrasment and that I was thinking of getting my porch redone in about 1 year, but I would get other quotes before I made any decision. After recieving the quote, I said that it was more than I expected and told him how much I thought it would be based on the price for my conservatory from a local company.
He then phoned his boss, called Ryan and told him that I wanted to wait for a year before I made a decision. I was then asked to speak to him on the phone. He was extremely pushy, asking me why I wasn't wanting to go ahead straight away. When I suggested that I wanted to do the sensible thing of getting quotes from other companies, he told me that all I needed was a company you can trust, good products and a good price. When I said that I agreed, but that I trusted my local double glazing company, that had done work on the house previously and that I wouldn't make any decision before I got a quote on them. He became extremely agressive. At this point I told him that I didn't like his sales technique and was handing him back to the saleman. It was at that point that I asked the salesman to leave and said that I was going to complain about the sales tatic. Hence my reason for my rant on here.

OMG what an annoying person! I hate pushy people; like the people pushing energy companies and services around my shopping centre!
Feels better to have a vent on here though eh?0 -
It does feel much better, thanks0

I would just wind them up and lead them on for as long as possible.
Then I would tell them that I actually don't have any money, I'm just really lonely.
I hate pushy sales people too.0 -
The point is you'd already demonstrated you were susceptible to bullying by giving in to the woman on the phone and arranging a visit. That's why they tried it on. Easiest way to avoid pushy salesmen is to not invite salesmen into your house, especially when you've no intention of purchasing their products.0

Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooh I remember them coming to give me a quote on new windows quite a few years back, the salesman was okayish and I explained that I was getting 3 quotes and I didnt want any pushiness or phone calls after the price, he then told me I had a POXY front door , well he called and called and callled and would not leave me alone over this blooming quote............ needless to say I didnt use them

I didn't realise that St. Helens Glass still existed. I thought they went bust after they moved out of the large glass building at the top of Phoenix Brow -just goes to show how wrong I was
I asked them for a quote for windows about 15 years ago, but they were way too expensive. Instead, I used Jones Windows (and have used them again since, due to a change to the front of my house).
To stop the calls, each time they ring, refuse to speak to anyone other than the manager. Tell him that you are not prepared to use a company that constantly harrasses you, when you have made it clear that you need more time to decide. Tell them that you want your number removing from their database. Keep time and date of all calls, including who you spoke to. On the next call, speak to the manager and remind them that on such a date, you requested that your number is removed and ask why it has not yet happened.
It may not help, but if it does continue, tell them that you will write to the St. Helens Star and let others know about their harrassment and lack of respect for their customers.0
