Scottish Power: Entering Meter Readings online

As part of the process of switching from EON to Scottish Power's 2 year fixed rate deal I have been asked to supply meter readings.
The meter reading entry form on the Scottish Power website has two boxes for electricity readings labelled [1] and [2]: It does not indicate which is for day and which is for night. The entries are curently blank.
The question is "Which order do I enter the readings on the web form?"

(BTW: I do know which reading on the meter is night and which is day, I just don't know the order to enter them on the website).
I have seen forum postings from other Customers who have experienced problems after day & night readings were switched.

I tried phoning SP but their customer support is rubbish: I was unable to speak to anyone. I am already beginning to think that maybe I should have stayed with Eon - I found their customer support to be pretty good.

"The issue is that sometimes register 1 is day and sometimes it is night, depending on the meter type, which makes it difficult for us to amend the web form, however so long as the customer gives the readings as per the registers on the meter this will match up as we get meter technical details which tell us which register is which."

Why is it so difficult to come up with a simple process that the customer can use to identify and enter night & day readings without having to contact customer support? For example a box on the web form where you enter the meter type along with an explanation of how you identify your meter type. It seems to me that this is an admission that there is a failure in the meter reading/entry process.

In the good old days they employed someone to come round and read the meter. It seems crazy to me that in the modern world of sat nav & mobile phones that customers are expected to read meters and submit the results ourselves. It's just another way of increasing profits for energy companies. Why can't they read meters remotely? - it's not rocket science.

    You didn't read my post.
I know which is my day and night meter reading.
The problem is with the SP website meter entry form.
They do not explain which entry box is which.

And its about time energy suppliers were able to read meters remotely without asking customers to do it for them. It ain't rocket science - just a way to increase profits

Are you really saying that the SP rep said the following to you ? :

Blue on this site donates a URL, your post is headed Here is the reply from SP:-, it and the three paragraphs is all in blue like this ! it's perfectly reasonable for me to assume that's what was said by the SP rep, otherwise why would you change the text colour to blue ?

Look my friend there are at least 100 people in these threads that can answer your question, yet in 3 weeks only one other than the SP rep has attempted to interact with you, and not one since your 08-11-2012 post. There are loads of helpful, knowledgeable well intended people in this group. Try to be nice to people, you may find people are nicer to you my friend.
