Carlyle Finance car loan

Sometime around 1997/8 I took out a car loan and I think it had PPI. The trouble is I can't find any of the paperwork. I've since moved from the area I lived in when I took the loan out but I don't think the garage I bought the car from are there anymore.
Is there anyway of finding out from Carlyle Finance what the terms of my loan were. It seems more complicated now that I've moved house a couple of times since I took the loan out.
I paid the loan off years ago. I think it was for either 3 or 5 years.

Due to the year and the fact you have no paperwork, this looks like a no go, if you had paperwork there is a chance the dealership no longer exists for you to make a claim to.0

Is there a chance that it was taken over, if not in the same place anymore, maybe they moved, but possible they taken over with all liabilities perhaps?
Is this a dealer as such, for example, Honda, Fords etc??The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
I've checked and the garage I bought the car from are still in the same place even after all these years. It's one of those small independants that's based on an industrial estate. I remember when I bought the car that I didn't have enough money to buy the car outright so I took out a loan which the man in the garage helped me with. It was a Carlyle Finance loan. So I'm curious, why would it matter if the garage are still around as you implied, surely the liability is with Carlyle Finance?0

You complain to whoever made the sale, not the insurance underwriter.
As the sale was pre 2005, the chances are they'll just reject it anyway.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
Thanks, although what is the importance of 2005?0

Insurance became regulated by the FSA in January 2005. Banks were members of a previous regulatory system which is why they have to consider earlier complaints. However, most brokers and financial advisers etc only became regulated in 2005 and can therefore refuse to consider pre 2005 complaints.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
