2nd Floor Flat Delivery

Has anyone else been told that they can’t have a delivery of white goods, in this case a washing machine to a second floor flat because there are too many steps?
Apparently, Expert Logistics drivers/ delivery men can refuse to deliver if there are more than 26 steps.
I made it clear that there was about 44 steps to the second floor when placing the order. It was pointed out it was at the driver’s discretion but the guy at Boots Home Appliances did not say the likelihood if it being not delivered was high, otherwise I would have gone elsewhere.
But Expert Logistics have just rung and made it clear (by emphasising 26 steps) that you are dependent on the driver and crew as to whether they want to deliver it. They did offer to leave it on the first landing.
The second floor is the second floor, they expect 13 per floor, this is an old block and has 22 per floor. So are people on the second floor of flats with no lift now going to be social pariahs because they have too many steps?
I bought this for a 62 year old lady and paid for installation and removal of the old item. How can you have a situation where you buy something, pay for services and then depending on how the driver feels, you might not get it. Why put it on the van to start with? How would she feel if the van turns up and then drives away, what sort of service is this.

this is better off on the praise, warning and vents board.

In saying that...The guys from Expert Logistics were very good for the two items they have delivered for us in the past. No problem too big for them.

In my own opinion > I would imagine part of this will be health and safety (gone mad) and maybe an insurance limit - which the driver can exceed at his own risk...

Yes, no disrespect to the workers, but I had to cancel. It’s bad enough waiting for delivery, but then to have it turned down because there are possibly too many steps, you can’t take the chance.
It was the call today which caused the problem, had they not emphasised so strongly that there were too many steps, then Friday could have been a possibility, but today they effectively implied it was not going to happen and she would have to arrange for people to do the final part of the delivery and presumably also get the old machine down to the first floor.

How do you move items between boards?
