Endowment Complaint Companies

I'm new to this site but very impressed. Wonder can anyone help me, I signed up with a complaint claims company to chase my endowments. I ended up doing all the work, they were worse than useless. They took over £800 from my first claim which was very straightforward.

When my second endowment claim was turned down, I disputed it and wrote a letter which got it re-opened and overturned with an offer of just over £1,000 compensation. The claims company now wants their 30% and as they did nothing I can't see why I have to pay them.

I've asked for copies of the letters / calls they claim they undertook on my behalf and they are refusing to provide these but demanding payment. Can I refuse to pay them? I don't want to end up paying them interest! But its a real matter of principal with me now.

They will almost certainly take you to the small claims court if you refuse to pay. Their contracts, which you signed, tend to be fairly waterproof on this front.
I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. • Thanks for the advice, that's what I was afraid of. Seems like a no win situation, they do absolutely no work and yet they still have to be paid - would like to make them wait to be paid if I have to, but then I suppose they'll claim interest. Is there anyone I can complain to about them? Don't suppose I can take them to small claims court for misleading me about their service? Really really really annoyed by how bad they are, feeling very stung here as you can probably tell.
  • You can argue this on the Unfair Contract Terms basis. I assume they are a no win no fee company. At the point you stopped using them you had not acheived anything therefore they should not get paid.

You can already complain to the Deparment of Constitutional Affairs. I think the web is https://www.dca.gov.uk and look for claims management regulation

If they have already had 800 and cannot demonstrate any real effort or input you should stand a 50/50 chance. On the other hand if you lose you would have to pay their cost of filing on here

If they are rubbish then name them as a warning to other posters not to use their service.
  • Thanks, I'll definetely report them for bad service.

The company is Oasis Financial Services and I'd advise anyone reading this to steer well clear of them. There is nothing they will do that you can't do yourself and believe me even if you know nothing about financial matters, you probably know as much as they do. Read Moneysavers article and follow Martin's advise, wish I had. Their website is mis-sold.com and that's exactly what they do - miss sell themselves! From what I can gather no one in there has any professional qualifications and they are pushy, aggressive and useless.
  • Keep me up to date .I am experiencing much the same but dont want to throw good money after bad.How long is this going on.
  • Thanks for all all the advice and the weblink to show others have also had problems with Oasis Financial Services.

Will let you know how I get on. But if anyone else has come across Oasis Financial Services make sure to complain on the link that Defender of the Weak advised - which is https://www.dca.gov.uk and look for claims management regulation.

    Cheers

Sorry just picked this up, we have a new baby in the house so I haven't had a chance to get online lately. I'm going to small claims court with this one (never been before tho so any advice appreciated) but reckon I've a good chance, point of principal now so worth the risk.

Regulator can't do anything about contracts signed before new regulations came into place.

What about you, any update? Any one else got advice out there on this?
