JSA Complaints

OK,
We all pay taxes when we work and most of these government departments, Job Centres, Etc.. Etc.. are funded with money from taxes, I assume. We take many things for granted and just let everything slide.
Mainly because we are too busy or too stressed to do anything. Working full time, where do you have time to sort out alot of the things that affect us. We have enough to do already.
I have found that when claiming JSA, I hate signing in, not because I dont have the proof but because of the way they treat you. They make you feel like scum. I mean half the people in their have lost their jobs or made redundant with no fault of their own. Majority are hard working and sincerely cant find suitable work. So what gives them the right to hound people and treat them like inferiors? At the end of the day their jobs are 100% reliant on jobless people. If they helped everyone to find a job, there would be no local unemployment and they themselves would be put out of jobs. They should be grateful that their are unemployed people otherwise THEY would be the unemployed! They start nit picking and harrassing innocent people and let the big criminals get away with swindeling over 30 thousand pounds a year. They need to get with the program. They cant treat people like that. Whenever I come out of their I feel like ive been wronged.
IS there actually anywhere where you can make a proper complaint about the service provided. Its not just the way they treat you but also the fact that they make so much !!!! ups.

From my own personal experience you need to be careful when complaining about them, I once sent in a complaint regarding the way they were treating me. A week or so later I was sanctioned for not applying for a job (when I had, and had proof... the job was also one I found myself so they didn't have legal grounds to do so anyway afaik). There is an email address to send complaints on Direct.gov.uk0

Hi Raf,
I totally agree with you, I have to attend a meeting every 6months to clarify that my situation is still the same, they then tell me how much better of I would be if I was in work even give me a printout..
I ask about training to help me if/when my situation changes..I get oh sorry no funding..
Im left feeling really down because Im a full time carer and my son is
in need of full time care plus Im a lone parent because his dad was a drunk..
I really really want to work , I had my own business from home before the recession cleaned out my customers..now Im left feeling like scum.
The last time I went there they tried to stop my daughter from coming into the building with me.. I was like seriously, would you leave your daughter out there..We was let in..no offence but Im not a drug taking
lager drinker chave.. damn I hate them meetings:(
Never be put of complaining its your basic human rights0 -
They have there ways of "putting you down", but if you give them the proof of all jobs you have applied for and what steps you have taken you have done what they are "paying you" to do.
There main excuse for harrasing you is that they are paying you and you are not actively seeking work. If they pay you £67.50 a week, based on minimum wages of £6 an hour, thats payments for 11.25 hours of work. So if you meet the minimum number of applications you have to make and have spent atleast 11.25 hours actively seeking work thay have no legs to stand on. Correct me if I am wrong.
People have to understand the concept that THEIR jobs exist because you have no job. Otherwise they would have no job. But they make you feel little because you are claiming JSA and have no job.
Everyone needs someone to point their finger at, it seems the employed point their fingers at the unemployed, and when employed the established employees point their fingers at the newbies.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. So by that logic, Police and Prison staff should be shaking criminals' hands rather than arresting and locking them up? Fool...They have there ways of "putting you down", but if you give them the proof of all jobs you have applied for and what steps you have taken you have done what they are "paying you" to do.

You're wrong.
Their main excuse (ie reason) for "harrassing you" (ie motivating you to seek employment), is that you are currently making zero contribution to society and costing taxpayer's £X each week that could be spent on other things.Everyone needs someone to point their finger at, it seems the employed point their fingers at the unemployed, and when employed the established employees point their fingers at the newbies.
And the unemployed and those on benefits point the finger at...everyone else, it would seem.
Perhaps if you applied the same passion and tenacity to jobhunting as you do to whining, you might end up better off?;)0 -
let the full time employed critics revert to doing their jobs part time so they can job share with an unemployed who also want to feed their family instead of relying on handouts from the state! Whinging!! i think you too would be when cut backs is causing you to be a statistic in the benefit system!! Get real....dont look down on the hard luck people in life...one day it could happen to you and your family!!0

I've needed to claim JSA three times in my life and I've never once been treated with anything other than civility and respect - never anything like "scum".They start nit picking and harrassing innocent people and let the big criminals get away with swindeling over 30 thousand pounds a year. They need to get with the program. They cant treat people like that.
I really have no idea what you are talking about. However...IS there actually anywhere where you can make a proper complaint about the service provided. Its not just the way they treat you but also the fact that they make so much !!!! ups.
Accusing them of lying is a very serious accusation and the best person to complain to about this - and indeed any other issue you have with a government department - is your Member of Parliament.
The last time I claimed JSA I had a problem with how my advisor interpreted the rules around the ADF and I went along to meet my MP and complained to him.
He wrote a letter to the DWP complaining and the complaint was eventually resolved to my satisfaction.
DWP staff ARE answerable to their Minister who are in turn answerable to the MPs in the Commons, who are themselves answerable to their constituents.
These people work for YOU and it's their job to listen to and follow up on any complaints that you have.0
